Connected (2008)

Grace Wong (Barbie Hsu) gets kidnapped by a group of men. Fok Tak-Nang(Liu Ye) keeps asking her "where is it?" but she has no idea what they are talking about. They kill her maid, her brother's friend and kidnaps her daughter too. While captive in a barn in middle of no where she was able to tap a broken phone. Using the pulse from the broken phone she finally gets connected to Bob's (Louis Koo) cellphone.

Bob doesn't want to help Grace at first because he was in a rush to see his son off at the airport. Bob's character is an incapable man to take care of his family. His wife left him and his son is leaving Hong Kong with Bob's sister. He has a crappy job as a debt collector.

He has a good heart and tries to save Grace's daughter from the kidnappers. Then he tries to save the brother from the kidnappers but all fails. He gets really hurt and even becomes a wanted by the cops.

The cop, Yu Yan-fai (Nick Cheung) gets involved in this when Bob pulls him over to report Grace's call and even got Nick to talk to Grace on the phone. Yu doesn't believe Bob and leaves. Yu has a very good instinct for crime solving. He decides to go to check out the address that Grace said was her house. He finds a suspicious woman saying she was Grace. He didn't believe her so he sneaked in the house and the woman started shooting at him. They fight and he kills her. Then her badge drops out of her pocket and Nick finds out she works for the Interpol.

While following the bad guys Bob finds the stuff they were looking for. It was a video tape Grace's brother accidentally recorded of the men. The men are corrupted Interpol agents. They had executed a bunch of drug dealers and then keeps the drugs for themselves.

Bob sends the bad guys to the airport and tells them to release Grace and her family. If they don't then he will give the cops the tape. After a long struggle, with Yu's help and airport police they arrest the bad guys.

BUT Yu's supervisor was one of the bad guys. He gets to the scene and releases the bad guys and steals the camcorder from Bob. Then Nick finds out in time to save Bob. They come into a big struggle and all the bad guys die.

Grace and her family gets free and the news reporters rush to the scene. They report that Bob was the hero that's been helping Grace's family. Bob's son see's Bob on TV and rushes out of the airport to be with his father.
